The Dunes Symposium![]()
The Dunes Symposium is an annual public policy forum for emerging business leaders.
The symposium is named after the Dunes on Waiheke Island where it was first held in 2006. The Dunes is now held at the Formosa Golf Resort, a 35 minute ferry trip from downtown Auckland, or half an hour’s drive from Auckland airport. It runs over two days and delegates are accommodated in villas at the resort. Additional guests are invited to attend the Symposium Dinner on the first evening, with a key note speaker. The specific elements of the programme vary from year to year but the format is a series of talks or panel sessions, each followed by discussion including a number of breakout sessions. Delegates (a maximum of 40) sit around a large round table equipped with microphones. We allow as much time as possible for questions and discussion and for networking between sessions. A number of Business Roundtable members also attend the symposium and participate in a panel discussion at the end of day one. Business Roundtable members nominate executives from their organisations to attend. We also invite a number of other businesses and public sector organisations to send participants. The 2012 Dunes Symposium will be held in September at Formosa Golf Resort, Beachlands, Auckland.
