The Sir Ronald Trotter Lecture![]()
The Sir Ronald Trotter Lecture and Dinner, now in its 15th year, is the Business Roundtable’s annual flagship gala event. It is given annually by a distinguished international speaker on a major topic of public policy.
The lecture was instituted in 1995 by the Business Roundtable to mark founding chairman Sir Ronald Trotter’s many contributions to public affairs. The annual event has gained a large following, attracting over 400 guests from business, political, academic, thinktank and media communities. Past speakers include influential Indigenous Australian lawyer and founder of the Cape York Institute Noel Pearson, Kiwi ‘oligarch’ and Renaissance Capital founder Stephen Jennings, former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Baron Nigel Lawson, skeptical environmentalist Bjorn Lomborg, provocative social theorist Francis Fukuyama, first Russian Prime Minister the late Yegor Gaidar and legal scholar Richard Epstein. The 2010 Sir Ronald Trotter Lecture was delivered by one of Australia’s most influential thinkers and Indigenous leaders Noel Pearson. Noel is a lawyer and land rights activist and the founder of the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership. The lecture was held on Tuesday 2 November at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
